What to put in your beauty tool box

When assembling a box of beauty, you need to have all of the most important tools for creating a polished look. However, many people aren’t quite sure where to start, having assembled masses of items throughout the years. If you take the time to sort through what you already have, but stock up on some essentials, you can create the right beauty look for any and all occasions.

Start with your skin

Your skin is the most important part of your face and body – it’s what will support everything that you want to do for your beauty. You will want to have a good cleansing, toning, and moisturizing routine down for you face as well as an exfoliating routine for your body. Here are some basics for your skin:

  • Soap free face cleanser

  • Gentle face toner

  • Day cream with sunscreen

  • Night cream for rejuvenation

  • Body lotion

  • Exfoliating poof for the shower or a loofah

  • Try on some color

The next step that you will want to take with the clean and moisturized palette is to dress it up. To do this, you will want a few basics as well as some fun choices that will work well for special occasions.

  • Foundation or tinted moisturizer – You will want to create an even finish on your skin in order to allow the makeup that you use to sit well. Try to find a color that closely matches your skin and works with your skin type. Foundations don’t need to be applied to the entire face either to be effective – a light touch is fine.

  • Concealer – Since we all have imperfections that we want to conceal, try to find a concealer that is close to the color of your skin. You don’t want to choose anything too light or else it will stand out from your foundation.

  • Powder – To complete your skin, you will want to use a light dusting of loose powder. Pressed powder is fine for traveling, but when you want to set your makeup for a big night out, loose powder is best.

  • More to come

Then comes the fun part, your eyes; you have many tools to choose from for dressing them up. You might want to start by applying an eye shadow base that will set your makeup as well as a curling with an eyelash curler. You will then want to apply eye liner, if you choose, and an eye shadow over the lid of the eye. Lighter for day and darker for night. Then apply two to three coats of black or brown mascara.

For your lips, you will want to choose something neutral for the daytime and something richer for the night. You can start with a lip liner if you want the color to stay longer, but be sure that the liner is as close to your natural lip color as possible.

It is very important to make sure your have pearly white teeth, obviously no bad breath problem - halitosis.

Top off your beauty with a light spray of perfume and you’re ready to take on the world!
